CAKE & CHOIR TASTER with Barry Community Choir. Don’t miss out – come along to St John Church, Barry Island at 7-8.30pm on 24th September 2025. Sit at the back and listen, or sing with us, as we rehearse some well-known old favourites as well as learn new songs for Autumn and Christmas events. After the singing there will be homemade cake and a cuppa and a chance to informally meet and chat with one or two friendly choir members so that you can find out more about Barry Community Choir. You must be over 18 unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. If you love to sing and want to join a choir where you don’t need to read music and there are no auditions, give us a try. There’s no obligation, just an opportunity for you to hear us sing, eat cake and get to know us in a relaxed setting. There really is nothing to lose but so much to gain.

Ali is running the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 5th to raise funds for Barry Community Choir. At BCC we believe that good music should be available to everyone. So the money raised from this will be used to benefit singers and audiences alike in Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan. Choir funds help to keep membership subscriptions reasonable and allow us to offer a variety of discounts, help us buy music copies which we lend to members, help pay for professional music leadership so that we perform well, and help cover our costs of performing at venues and events which are either unable to pay themselves, or which raise money or awareness of other charities in our area.
Thank you, Ali, for helping us in so many ways to be the best Community Choir, and for going above and beyond to raise funds, even when your training has been hit by injury. And a great big thank you to everyone who has supported Ali and donated so far.
You can help Ali by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/page/ali-shone-12? Thank you .

At our AGM we drew the winning tickets for our Great Spring Raffle. Winners were notified and prizes presented. A great big to everyone who donated prizes and to everyone who bought a ticket. Funds we raise mean that we can keep our membership affordable whilst growing our repertoire, and most importantly, singing in the community, including where audiences are unable to donate to our costs of performing, or where we fundraise for other charities such as RNLI or Noah’s Ark Appeal – to name just two of our recent performances

Always great to get positive feedback from a performance – especially when we enjoyed ourselves so much. Thank you #RNLI. And even better to have helped raise much needed funds for our local RNLI. Thank you to everyone who donated. We’ll be back at RNLI, Barry Island in August.

Barry Community Choir has been quietly evolving, refreshing and reinvigorating itself over recent years, especially after the ravages of COVID and measures which prevented any singing. The choir has very successfully risen up again and with fresh music to sing in a balanced mix of styles, with membership steadily increasing, and our sound being developed by professional coaching and support, our confidence has built and the results are just joyful, and will appeal to many audiences. A professional opera singer recently remarked “BCC has the best sound I have heard from a community choir”.
